Halogen-bonding-mediated synthesis of amides and peptides

We report the first methods for halogen-bonding-mediated formation of amide and peptide bonds. The methods can be used to synthesize not only amides but also dipeptides, tripeptides and pentapeptides in good to excellent yields without racemization.
