Exploring the Black and White Shades of Social Sexual Behavior at Workplace

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
Assertion of the word “sexual behavior” always creates a conflicting state of mind, as it is considered offensive, harassing, and harmful in nature. However, studies have determined it as an inevitable phenomenon that could be harmless and create a positive, enjoyable, and good work climate at the workplace. Considering this, the present study is aimed to determine the impact of social sexual behavior in two forms, that is, ambient sexual behavior and direct sexual behavior on various dimensions of employee wellbeing (work engagement, burnout, and job satisfaction). For the present study, 423 employees of the civil aviation industry have been surveyed working on different profiles. With the application of structural equation modeling, a statistical model has been developed and analyzed. The findings of the study have unveiled the black (negative) and white (positive) shades of social sexual behavior at the workplace. Ambient sexual behavior was found to reduce burnout among employees and enhances work engagement and job satisfaction. Further, the study has analyzed the negative relationship between direct social sexual behavior and the positive dimension of EWB (work engagement and job satisfaction). However, this relationship is found positive in concern to burnout.

Millennial Customer Engagement with Fintech Services: The Mediating Role of Trust

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
The study investigates the impacts of Fintech services (such as e-payment service (EPS), Robo-advisory, Regtech service (RTS), and financing service (FS)) on millennial customer engagement (CE) in the context of the private banking sector of Bangladesh. It also examines the mediating role of trust between Fintech services and CE relationships. Data for this study were collected through a structured survey questionnaire from 294 customers (only Fintech users) of different private banks in Bangladesh. The convenience sampling technique was used to select millennial customers. SPSS and SmartPLS software were used for data analysis. The results exhibited that EPS, Robo-advisory, and FS positively impact CE, while RTS was found insignificant with CE. Besides, customer trust (CT) mediates the relationships among EPSs, Robo-advisory, and FSs with CE. Conversely, CT does not mediate the RTS and CE relationship. The study findings contribute to the substantial pool of knowledge in Fintech services, CE, and consumer trust. Remarkably, the mediating role of CT between the Fintech services and CE relationship is the unique novelty of this study and will enrich the existing Fintech literature from Bangladesh’s perspective.

Please Remove Uncertainties! Otherwise, I Will Not Be Able to Do …! Intolerance to Uncertainty as a Threat to Personal Accomplishment: The Role of Work Ability and Thriving at Work

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
This study uses the Conservation of Resources Theory to understand whether intolerance of uncertainty leads to reduced personal accomplishment based on the work ability and thriving at work of employees. Besides intolerance of uncertainty directly affecting personal accomplishment, it also affects it through the mediating roles of employees’ work ability and thriving at work. The research model was tested using three-wave, time-lagged data from 278 employees. The findings confirm that intolerance of uncertainty leads to reduced personal accomplishment. Additionally, the results showed that work ability and thriving at work partially mediated this relationship. Further analysis suggests that both work ability and thriving at work act as parallel mediators in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and reduced personal accomplishment, and that there is no statistically significant difference between them. Therefore, intolerance of uncertainty presents a challenge to important issues that drive employees, such as ability, development, and success.

Entrepreneurial Intentions: What Is Known, Unknown, and Lacking? A Unifying Review and New Pathways for Potential Research

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
This research provides a bibliometric account of the research on Entrepreneurial Intention (EI) from the “Scopus” database. Based on 1,345 articles published during a period of 28 years (i.e., 1993–2021), the study analyzes the conceptual structure of the work on EI. However, the research suggests some pathways to develop and empirically test statistical models emerging from the flow of scientific inquiry. The study urges researchers to use the case study method to evaluate EI. This study will help both pioneer and veteran EI researchers and other stakeholders benefit, who also intend to explore new directions for future investigations offering integration and synchronization with other fields of research.

Determinants of Industry Herding in the Indian Stock Market

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
Herding can cause stock market volatility and its presence among foreign institutional investors (FIIs) can severely affect the equity market. Therefore, this research endeavors to estimate the industry-level herding by FIIs. Further, repercussions of trading volume, industry returns, and conditional volatility on herding have been analyzed in the study. In addition, the level of FIIs herding has been estimated during upswing and downswing markets, rising and falling trading volume, and conditional volatility market states. Herding was estimated using a count-based herd ratio after the global meltdown period. The empirical findings are based on the daily data from January 2010 to December 2019. The results confirmed herding in the Indian equity exchange. The outcomes revealed that buy-side herding was more predominant than sell-side herding in all industries. These findings indicate that the Indian security market is a lucrative investment destination for FIIs. The research disclosed that industrial returns are a vital parameter to derive FII herding. Therefore, this research can be used for price discovery at the industry level. Trading volume and conditional volatility demonstrate an inverse relationship with FIIs herding. Furthermore, the research also reveals that herding was more severe before the structural break period except for the construction sector.

Work-Cognition and Subjective Well-being Among Female Professional Educators During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Moderating Role of Resilience

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
Teaching demands educators to be both caretakers and educators, leading to significant cognitive and emotional strain. The pandemic has worsened these challenges, requiring teachers to seek psychological and professional support. Online teaching has added to these difficulties, with educators having to adapt to new technologies while managing virtual classrooms and addressing the unique needs of students in remote learning environments. This present study sought to understand the relationship between work cognition (WCog) and subjective well-being (SWB) among female professional educators during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study also examines the moderating effect of Resilience (RSL) on the association between WCog and SWB. Using a purposive sampling technique, data was collected through an online survey from 181 female professional educators in India. Female professional educators reported moderate levels of WCog, high levels of RSL, and high levels of SWB, which indicates that the female professional educators faced cognitive and emotional strain during online teaching but demonstrated resilience and maintained positive well-being. RSL moderated the relationship between WCog and SWB, highlighting its influence on educators’ cognitive management and well-being during online teaching. These insights have implications for support system to enhance the well-being of educators and promoting their professional development.

Integration of ABC Analysis with Fuzzy DEMATEL and Fuzzy TOPSIS in Supplier Selection and Ranking Problems

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
While performing Always Better Control (ABC) analysis in an automobile industry, A category items are given higher priority, neglecting B and C category items which comprise 80% of the total inventory. Little attention to tail spend account poses problems in managing suppliers, unscheduled deliveries, and environmental issues. To address this gap a Multi-criteria decision making approach is proposed for supplier selection in each inventory class by integrating ABC Analysis with Fuzzy Decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory and Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution. The best suppliers are selected based on criteria weights and criteria interrelationships for each A, B, and C inventory items. The study shows that managers have to focus on key criteria rather than a whole set of criteria for A, B, and C inventory suppliers thus saving costs and effort. The results show that delivery and environmentally friendly products as common and important criteria for supplier selection in each inventory items. The research results will help the decision-makers and policymakers in solving the supplier selection problems in the automobile sector and other similar sectors.

Impacts of COVID-19 Pandemic on the Price Volatility of Listed Commercial Bank Stocks in Vietnam

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
This article aims to estimate the relationship between COVID-19 and the price volatility of listed commercial bank stocks in Vietnam during the two most severely affected years of the pandemic (2020–2021), and measuring the impacts of macroeconomic factors on those stocks’ returns and their price volatility (measured by standard deviation of returns) with previous studies’ results before the pandemic. Using the data from 16 listed commercial banks’ stock returns on Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) and Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX) during the study period, we used OLS to find the effect, with important findings: (1) COVID-19 daily reported cases had a weak negative effect on Vietnam listed banks’ stock returns and hardly any relation with stock returns’ standard deviation. (2) GDP influenced commercial bank stock returns positively, while CPI, number of COVID-19 cases, and businesses closed had a negative effect. Also, listed commercial bank stock returns were insignificantly impacted by the interest rate. (3) Macroeconomic factors’ impact on the standard deviation of returns were weak, during the pandemic. GDPs and CPIs effect turned out to be insignificant while interest rate had a negative effect on the volatility rate, and was only significant in two out of the three models, implying potential negative impacts of COVID-19 on the macroeconomy.JELClassification: G21, F62, F65, G18, G28

Assessing Market Integration Between MINT and Developed Economies: Evidence from Dynamic Cointegration

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
This study examines the static and time-varying cointegration between Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Turkey (MINT), and developed stock markets in USA and Japan by applying conventional cointegration methodology and rolling multivariate trace statistics over the period of 10 years. Overall, the findings of bivariate cointegration test suggested that MINT stock markets do not have significant long running relationship with Japan stock market. Hence, the scope of diversification exists accordingly. However, rolling trace statistics revealed the time-varying nature of integration between the markets considered in the study. The varying degree of cointegration is more likely to be caused by major economic, financial, and political events. Hence, the presence of equilibrium relationship among the markets in the sub-periods may limit the potential portfolio diversification benefits. Thus, lack of consistency in the findings of the static and dynamic cointegration analysis highlights the limitation of the static assessment. On the short-term linkage, the examination of dynamic conditional correlation (DCC) for each MINT-developed market pair suggested that Indonesia exhibits least correlation with USA and Japan and hence, offering highest portfolio avenues.

Mediation Effect of Entrepreneurial Alertness Between Prior Knowledge and Experience on Entrepreneurial Intention Among Accountancy Students

Business Perspectives and Research, Ahead of Print.
The ability to recognize valuable business prospects is the primary meta-skill for entrepreneurship and can be deliberated through entrepreneurial alertness. In the opportunity identification perspective of entrepreneurship, inadequate attention is provided for the development of entrepreneurial alertness and its effectiveness among students pursuing professional or postgraduate courses in a specific discipline. Therefore, the present study determines the intervening role of entrepreneurial alertness in the causal association of students’ prior knowledge and experience on their entrepreneurial intention. The data of 408 final level students studying Chartered accountancy course from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) were gathered through cluster sampling. The statistical method of structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to examine the postulated associations. The results indicate that the students’ knowledge and experience appropriately stimulate the alertness for potential business prospects, which further motivates the intention for entrepreneurial actions. The partial intervention of entrepreneurial alertness is also observed ensuring that the use of knowledge and experience in identifying profitable business opportunity increases the chances of selecting a successful entrepreneurial career. The findings of the study contribute to the promotion of early-stage entrepreneurship among students of a specific discipline.
